In the schools of this country, And in other lands, too Some ideas have been growing Outside the public view. The country they describe Sounds like the worst place to be. Not the home of the brave, Nor the land of the free. “No justice, no peace” says a popular chant. We fight for justice, so they report. But the justice that they seek Is a new and different sort. This new “social justice” Judges and sentences in a hurry, Successful people they select, Without evidence, a trial, or a jury. The kind of justice that they seek Has a critical theory to replace history. All people of color are innocent, While whites are guilty, no mystery. People of the wrong color Are seen as guilty in this town. If they happen to be dead, Their statues must come down. Refrain Don’t Burn this Country! Don’t listen to the woke. Our country don’t need fixin’, ‘Cause our country ain’t broke. Jefferson and Madison wrote it In the Declaration and Bill of Rights: Since your country don’t own you, You can sail by your own lights. (Don’t Burn This Country! Verse 2) Since the 1960’s, those who listen Hear the slogans and complaint. Their negative tone is shocking, As are the pictures that they paint. Their justice is vigilante and not very fair. As its main ideas are mostly in error. The US Founders ideas led to freedom. While socialist ideas led to terror. Critical theory tried to erase history, That has been its threat. Our success didn’t arise from privilege But from freedom, talent, and sweat. Now we all watch TV sports, And see our favorite teams. Celebrate past and present success; Working together to live their dreams. TV sports teach a lesson of life: We all start equal, but don’t finish that way. We win by talent, luck, and sweat. Ignoring reality never wins the day. So, social justice warriors, no need to stress. If you want our people to be winners, Just tell our losers to copy success. And don’t call the winners “sinners”. Refrain ... Don’t Burn this Country! Don’t listen to the woke. Our country don’t need fixin’, ‘Cause our country ain’t broke. Jefferson and Madison wrote it In the Declaration and Bill of Rights: Since your country don’t own you, You can sail by your own lights. (finis)
